Privacy policy
Effective 26 October 2026. Applies to the Namefade Android app (package app.namefade).
Namefade has no servers and never uploads anything. Everything the app does happens on your phone.
Who is responsible
Namefade is published by João Correia, Portugal. Contact: jfpvcorreia@gmail.com.
What Namefade reads, and why
- Text on your screen (Accessibility API). With your permission, Namefade's accessibility service reads the text of the app in front of you and compares it, on the device, with the names on your list. When a name matches, it covers that screen with the shield. The text is used only for that comparison, in memory, and is never stored, logged or sent anywhere. Namefade does not set
isAccessibilityTool: it is a content filter you run for yourself, not an assistive tool. - Notifications (notification access). If you turn on the notification shield, Namefade's notification listener reads the title and text of incoming notifications, on the device, and removes the ones that match a listed name. Their content is never stored or sent.
- Your list. The names, aliases and settings you enter are kept only on your phone, in the app's private storage, and are excluded from Android backups.
- Daily counts. Namefade keeps a count of how many screens and notifications it covered per app, per day, so it can show "Hidden today". It never keeps what was hidden or when. Counts clear at midnight.
What Namefade never does
- No account, sign-in or personal profile.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No data is collected, shared or sold. Nothing leaves your phone.
- It does not watch, follow or report on anyone else. It hides names from you, on your phone.
Purchases (Namefade Plus)
Namefade Plus is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and tells the app whether the purchase is owned; Namefade never sees your payment details. Google Play Billing's library may contact Google's servers for its own operation, which is why the app declares the Internet permission. Google's handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Namefade stores only an "owned" flag on the device.
Delete your data
All Namefade data lives on your phone. To delete it, uninstall the app, or open Android Settings → Apps → Namefade → Storage → Clear storage. There is nothing to delete on any server, because Namefade has none. Purchase records are held by Google Play under your Google account.
Children
Namefade is for adults (18+). It is not directed at children and does not knowingly process children's data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new effective date. Material changes are also noted in the app's release notes.
